I really have to sit down and read the Vampire Academy books. I've had the first three for months now and they're still sitting on my to-read shelf.

Vampire Academy (four books now) is so superior to Twilight, it isn't even funny. Rose is bad ass.

Rose IS a bad ass, and I like the political implications the book is bringing up. It's just a lot more substantial than Twilight, which had plot as kind of an after thought to the Doomed Love scenario...

See, I sorta *get* why people love Twilight...basically Bella and Edward are these odd insecure people, and they accept each other for who they are...and I think everyone is trying to find that kind of acceptance. And I'm sure that wasn't even a single thought it Cockblock Meyer's head.

Still. Vampire Academy has an interesting thread that focuses almost on a class system...where one form has to depend on the other. And, Rose is bad ass, and Dimitri seems hot...and there is no cockblocking. :p

Ahhh, Vampire Academy! Love those books. Just finished the 4th one on Monday.

Rose IS badass, but with vulnerability as well. And I haven't read any of Twilight, but I'm convinced that the VA books are superior. :) They're my favorite of the YA vamp lit that I've been reading.

It is VASTLY superior to Twilight. It has a PLOT, for one thing. And characters that don't go into comas when their love lives don't go according to plan. *facepalm*

*mutters* I liked Twilight just fine until fangirls went nuts over it. There are so many better books out there, it annoys the heck outta me that this sparkly!unicorn!vampire novel became so popular.
