hateration, holleration

I'm sure you've all seen the whole thing about how Danny Gokey is a douchebag. I mean, like we didn't already kind of know that? But it's a little different seeing the douchebaggery in motion.

I have a lot of thoughts about this whole episode, and I think I will ( cut them to save your eyes from teal deers. )

gay is happy, meta, politics, *this* is american idol

I know right. It just makes me tired. It's so unnecessary.

I still am trying to wrap my head around the fact that he somehow got his hands on that picture of Adam and then had the nerve to ask him to sign it. Had those pictures even leaked yet then? But seeing the comments from his cousin's Facebook, I can see it runs in the family - I was appalled that they all sat there apparently asking Adam for autographs and pictures, only to talk crap about him.

I know, right? Not only to talk crap about him, but to a) attempt to humiliate him and then b) complain that his niceness seemed fake. Um. HELLO LADY. If someone treated me that way, I wouldn't be capable of even fake niceness.

THIS. The level of hypocrisy is astounding & I barely know who this dude & his family are.

I know if I'd been Adam, I wouldn't have been as polite.

As a Christian who has nothing but love for Adam and Kris, I appreciate that you recognize that not all Christians are as narrow-minded as Danny.

It's fundamentally not right to hate/discriminate/humiliate someone because they're attracted to different people than you. That's ridiculous. Adam has a good heart - anyone should be able to see that. That should be all that matters. And Adam is all about reaching out to those kids who are "a little different," which is something I applaud.

As much as Danny's actions disappoint me and reflect negatively on Christians, Kris's make me proud for the opposite reason:

He loves without bounds. He is the Christian you described. From what I know of him, he seems to know his Bible, he lives out his beliefs, but also, he doesn't use them as a shield to hold onto his own ignorance.

Like someone said last night, "Think about Kris, and it will restore your faith."

Exactly. I think about Kris, and my Christian/Mormon/Muslim/Jewish friends who are like Kris, and it makes me a little bit more hopeful. People like Danny are living in a world gone by. He doesn't reflect all the amazing ways our world is changing every day; he just echoes the past and the intolerant dinosaurs of the 80s and 90s.

I liked Gokey during auditions! I didn't think there was anything wrong with the story of the wife, Idol does that with every contestant who has anything mildly sympathetic in their past. I definitely thought the picture of the dead wife went Too Far and it became more like selling her memory for votes, which was mildly disgusting to me. THE JUDGES' OBVIOUS FAVORITISM WITH HIM WAS RIDICULOUS, BECAUSE HE WASN'T THAT GOOD. THEY WERE CONSTANTLY TELLING HIM, "I DIDN'T LIKE THIS PERFORMANCE, BUT THAT BEING SAID, YOU'RE AN AMAZING TALENT." Even Simon Cowell, who certainly has favorites, at least (usually) keeps it real ( ... )

Novels are good! I like novels.

I was also a little bitter about Jamar! Thought he was much MUCH better than Danny.

The way Danny's family acted is just shameful. I don't know how Adam dealt with that. I would NOT have been okay.

It just never occurred to me, growing up, that I should hate someone because of who they were or how they were born. Except for Ronald Reagan, and certain other Evil Republicans, obviously.
LOL You have no idea how much I relate to this statement.

I can't open the link because it's "adult content" according to my work computer but I don't really need any convincing that Gokey is a douche (although in reading comments I don't think I've read about this particular douchy act of his and his family???). His level of hypocrisy and ignorance, especially in this day and age, is astounding to me.

And this, He's sort of the classic bully type who hides behind his dogma and "how he was raised" to justify his mean-spiritedness. is spot on.

Basically what happened was, someone found his cousin's Facebook, where she had posted all these pictures from some dinner involving the Idols and Gokey's family. I am not sure what the deal was with the dinner, but she describes the events in the pictures, which are basically ( ... )

What a bunch of assholes. Mean-spirited and FULL OF JEALOUSY BITCHES!!

"Adam, I have to admit, was very nice, but I think he was faking it in MHO."
Talk about fake! She's the one taking the pic with Adam only to turn around and talk shit about him!

I know. It's like these people have never heard of hypocrisy before, but are attempting to define it through their actions nonetheless.
