I have finally caught up on my flist. I think I have too many people and comms. I didn't get to check at all yesterday because I was so damned busy at work planning parties and shit, and so yes. Finally caught up. And now for a list

I love the Great & Terrible Beauty series. I think Libba Bray's a great new voice in young adult literature. It's a shame that the Twilight series got so much attention, because I think Libba's about a thousand times the writer that SMeyers' will ever be. I can't wait to read what she writes next, now that she's done with that series.
Oh, it's soooo much better than Twilight. And what I've really loved so far is that yes, there's a romance plotline, but it's very much in the background. The series is so much more about friendship between girls and all the pitfalls and joys of that, and I really enjoy that aspect. Which I think is why it reminds me so much of Heavenly Creatures. Without the unfortunate Orson Welles obsession :P
But yes, it really is more about the constraints of Victorian England and how these girls all formed this great bond and self-empowerment. And such lyrical writing. I kept re-reading passages to fully let them sink in.
I'm not all that impressed with the actual writing, to be honest, but she doesn't let her prose get in the way of the story, which is more than good enough for me.
I'm on the third one. About a hundred pages in. I keep hoping it'll end up being Gemma/Felicity! Somehow I doubt it, but it would be fun.
If your ankle is bothering you, I won't be offended if you want to cancel racquetball for tomorrow. Don't get me wrong -- I am looking forward to playing, but I don't want to injure you (further)!
4) I'm sorta on the fence about Adam. I recognize he has a great voice, he's a solid performer and I find him oddly attractive yet I'm not really into him (yet?) cos I'm not sure if I would listen to his music. Hmmm. He definitely makes things interesting, which I appreciate cos this season has been a snoozefest.
4) I never listen to any Idol's music post-Idol. Except Kelly and the odd song from Carrie. Well, and DAUGHTRY is unavoidable, but I don't go out of my way to listen to him. I tend to think the point of Idol is not choosing who I think would make the best solo recording artist, but who's karaoke performance I enjoy the most. So far, I enjoy Adam the most. AND I think he will only get better. Now that I have seen the tiny 16-year-old girl with the bad dye job, I really like her too. She reminds me a lot of Kelly.
