moved!

I am officially moved into my new house!! I even have internet, as you can probably guess since I'm using it right now and all. It didn't rain. All those predictions about damaging high winds and torrential downpours... and it didn't even RAIN. Not a single drop. Well, it rained for about 10 minutes at midnight. But that appears to be over ( Read more... )

YAY! I'm so excited for you! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! And internet already!!

I have galpal in HTown I've been trying to keep in touch with. She's near downtown, no power, and it's HOT, she says. They're also on a boil order for water... which is AWESOME because there's no power to boil water. Toilets don't flush, etc. It could be awhile before it's put back together. I saw some riveting pics of Galveston Friday afternoon... I don't even want to think about what it looks like now.

Apparently entire parts of Galveston and Beaumont are pretty much gone. I don't have a TV so I haven't seen any news yet, but it appears to have been a pretty damaged storm. It's too bad your friend didn't get out of Houston! We didn't get anything in Austin and I heard San Antonio got passed by as well.

My bro and SIL are in San Antonio, they're good.

My friend said she was 50 miles inland not in the surge or flood zone. At worst would be wind and rain. She said Hurricane force winds are no joke.

The sister of one of my other friends lost her home... a tree fell on it at 4 am. Total loss. :(

Is it bad that I love weather? I watched Katrina stuff till I was blue in the face.

Again, I'm SO HAPPY you have your own place!

I'm originally from Ohio, and I love SNOW and blizzards and ice weather. But people up north don't really freak out the way people down here do. Then again, blizzards aren't as bad as hurricanes, or not as obviously and immediately devestating, I guess. We do freak out about tornadoes up north.
