Thank you for the transgender-link. I once saw a report about a boy now girl on TV here. He told his parents he is a girl when he was 5 years old. From the second grade (8 years old) she lived as a girl. And she to got those medicamentation.
And one of the boys of a friend of mine is insisting he is not a boy. He is 3 years old now. And his parents don't think anything about it - at all. But he is behaving totally like a girl, not a boy. It could be nothing. But he always makes me think of the girl in the report.

It was such a good story. They're doing a whole series, so I might go back and download the episodes from the beginning of the week to hear the other stuff about transgender kids. They make a lot of good points about the nature of gender and how it can't be only defined biologically.

I do think that gender is more mental/emotional than physical, but that it is a tragedy for the child who finds his/her/self in a body alien to gender identification. I think it may be necessary to see the first few years through in physical gender, but something should definately be done before puberty if necessary.

Hi, and thank you for your comment! In the radio piece, there's actually a comment from Violet's sister saying that she tries to think about how she would feel if she were growing up in a boy's body, and how disgusting and alien that would be to her. I think that's a really good way to look at it.
