From the Idolator's review of Z100s Jingle Ball at MSG:

The grownups and the survivors, Alicia Keys and the warmly recieved Backstreet Boys (side note: when did AJ start looking like the emo Dave Attell?), unsurprisingly proved to be the only performers who had the biz-honed ability to command a crowd that size, but even with Timbaland ( Read more... )

I don't like either of the singles from this Alicia Keys album. "no one...No One...NO OOOOOOOOOOONNNEEE!" It's like she's shrieking or singing too high or has a strained vocal cord or something. Maybe she just needs to sing lower or something. That whole song is just, I don't know, like a kid song or something.

Yeah, it's that song I don't like. I usually love her voice but there is just something awful about it in that song. And REALLY LOUD.

As a side note, am I the only person who doesn't like Alicia Keys's new song? Her voice is way too loud on the mix or something, I can barely listen to it.
No you aren't. It's interesting though b/c I feel like the vocals are overshadowed by the music, which I don't particularly care for. But I suppose she could be trying to compensate for that by singing louder.

Yeah, I think that's what it is. Like, I can barely hear the music because I have to turn the song down so low in order to stand listening to it. And usually her piano bits are so lovely. That's just a shame, that this song turned out so blah.

It really is a shame. Her piano work is awesome.

It's funny that you think that about Alicia Key's new song. I feel the same way.

Timbaland interminably padding out three songs with the kind of between-song rambling that you'd expect from a pop genius with an entitlement complex bigger than his neck rolls.

Hahahaha. Yes. But he is a genius.

I think I'll believe he's a genius when he does something different from what he's been doing the past 2 years. Although the "bounce like yo' ass got the hiccups" song is pretty genius :P
