Thanks:) I found that entire final arc of the series terribly sad and am still having difficulty with it. It was so emotionally manipulative and unnecessary. Why do TV writers believe that a finale has to be this huge dramatic, explosive, over the top event when it would have been just as effective if not more so to have House and Wilson move on from Princeton because they wanted to be together and experience life and Princeton held bad memories for the both of them. People do move from places and jobs and start a new elsewhere to get out of a rut, which this show appeared to be in for quite some time now.

This. A million times this. Also, they could have done the cancer angle with a more open door - something where it's unclear whether Wilson will survive or not (50-50 chances aren't rare, after all) and he decides that, if he has so little to live, he wants to do so in a place where the winter doesn't suck and accepts an offer from San Diego - and House could show his devotion by accepting a non-tenured position to follow him, just when his parole was over and he could fully start at PPTH again..

I sure hope Wilson's as moved from this as I am. Actually, it seems to me there's a large amount of fic writers who go into a "Wilson changes his mind" mode. We needn't follow tptb's opinion: people change, but they also change back.
