I really liked this little piece - especially that Buffy came to her own conclusion by talking with Giles. And she was very much in the right to say all that she told Giles, including the 'Seeing Red' episode.

Bravo - great work! *as if you could do otherwise ;)*

*blushes* Thank you! I am going to try to just keep writing because when I stop it is so hard to start all over again (silly muse!). I have about 11 stories in various stages of work on my HD that I had determined to work on and post as I finish them (learned the hard way about WIPs and myself....not mixy!).

You know it really wasn't ANYONE'S business about what happened in that bathroom but they all made it theirs and she let them!

Thank you again.

Kathleen, this was beautifully done. I don't think that anyone in the Spuffyverse could have written this better. You put it all down in front of Giles in a perfect Buffy voice and laid it on the line, just like she would have. Excellent! :)

Oh had she only taken a moment to think things through there in S7 she would have come to this conclusion before it was too late. THANK you for the so kind words!

Thanks! Yes, had she time to think that season she might have realized it before it was too late. Then he would have believed those words.

She was still desperately trying to be what everyone wanted of her. They wanted the Slayer they knew from before her death. They wanted their best buddy Buffy to pair up with a nice, normal guy and hang out when not saving the world one demon at a time. They wanted her to pay the bills, care for Dawn, notice their needs, do her duty and she was terrified of letting any of them down. They might leave her. So she could not love Spike, she dared not. That slip earlier spoke volumes though, and part of her was annoyed that Willow didn’t even appear surprised.

“If they guessed, why didn’t they care enough about me and my happiness to let me know they stood by me?” She wasn’t the only bad friend that year.

Spike offering to leave had done one thing: it had made her face up to the fact that he was one essential in her life. The thought of him being gone was not an option. He was in her heart, and likely had been for a long timeGreat Buffy voice here, I love the way she sorts through everything that's happened to her and realizes that the ( ... )

I'd like to think that if she had had some time to really go over things that year she would have realized her heart before it was too late. Maybe HE would have believed her too then. Thank you!

Thanks for reading and the kind comment!

Yeah, I wish she had taken the time to think things through. You could see it in her instinctive actions but there were so many things happening she didn't examine it until too late.
