So sad...Hard to read, but you did a great job with it! I will be glad to see how you fix it!

Thank you! As I've warned others, the "fix" is on the flimsy side, but I do try to treat it seriously once I commit to it.

Very well written, although I have to say I hate the subject matter. So much that, with the caveat of a "flimsy" fix, I probably wouldn't keep reading if you weren't such a good writer...

Thank you--I think that's about as good of a compliment as I can get. I think I'm overly nervous about the "fix"--when I first started working on this about 6 weeks ago, this particular plot device wasn't in a lot of Lure fanfics, but now I've seen it creep up in some others' works. So, I'm more afraid of it being a letdown than anything else. How Luke and Reid react to it is really the important part for me, and this I haven't seen in other fictions. There's a reason I wanted a lot of time to have passed.
Also on the upside, if it's the sadness that you don't like, there really isn't much else like this in what I've drafted so far (about 13 chapters and counting). There's certainly some angst, but nothing even in the ballpark of chapter 1.
(Sorry, I talk a lot.)

Now that I re-read my own comment it sounds harsher than I meant. This looks like the beginning of a great story, I'm just feeling a little fragile (still!) about Reid's demise and prefer to mostly live in the Train What Train universe. I'm sure I'll be a lot sunnier once the fixing starts. :) And yes, the sadness is hard because you write it so incredibly well, and then it's just the utter lack of Reid that's hard to take... Gah, have to go read something fluffy now. ;) But don't take it as criticism. The stories that dare to take us to the lowest depths often give the greatest rewards in the end.

Oh dear, I didn't mean to sound defensive. I truly meant that I took your comment as a great compliment. If my writing can draw you in despite not liking the topic, I say that's great.

I'm totally on board (no pun intended)with the Train What Train universe myself--I don't like dwelling on the sad stuff. And yet, the first thing I write is this. Go figure. It's probably why I show my hand in chapter 2--I can't go longer than that without knowing that Reid is safely alive.

I hope you found something nice and fluffy! I always go back to Nancygrew's stories when I want a good laugh.

"While Chris may not have intended to hurt Reid by neglecting his health in the most asinine way possible, Luke could not help but think that Chris’s actions created the chain of events that led to Reid’s death."

I agree with this line, fully. It was the thought that came to my mind when Reid's death was unfolding. It was one of the few times that I acctually cried over a T.V death.

Your fanfic made me tear up as well, I could feel the pain that Luke was going through, it feels as if my heart is breaking into small bits.

But thank you for this amazing fanfiction.

Thank you. I cried over Reid's death, too, and I think it was perhaps the second time in 15 years of soap viewing that I did. My husband thought I was completely crazy.
