What made me pick up The Etched City was seeing K.J. Bishop's own cover for it. I should track down a copy of the Prime Book's edition; supposedly there were minor changes between it and the Bantam one.
There's also a drawing she did of Raule on her site. I don't think I'd ever want to see anyone attempt to reproduce the art described in the book, but at the same time I'd love to see some drawings of Ashamoil itself despite the city itself being as... I'm not finding the words... occult? unreachable? oneiric? as anything Beth drew.
Oh, she was the one who did that cover? It starts to make sense then. XD (I kept thinking she had to be a visual artist herself, or grew up in a household of visual artists, or had an art history degree - something along those lines.)
I'm looking at what's posted on her site now, and wow. ♥
Of all things, Ep 23 has driven some nail home for me in terms of Mori & Honey. It was the arboreal Greek chorus that did it. XD They're the froods who know where their arrows and everyone else's are pointed on the great shoujo relationship diagram of life.
(Does Kyouya have it for Tamaki? I can't tell but somehow I presume you can.)
Dude. Having just finished it, I totally want to go to a museum and stare at etchings. XD Possibly coherant thoughts after I chase my brain with some biochem papers.
P.S. Recommend some of the namedropped authors' (from your other post on it) works? I've read some amount of Calvino and Borges; the rest are unknowns. This isn't generally the genre/style I read, so I fear I'm missing out on possible references/background. :D

Actually the anime is winding up, isn't it. Sigh. Guess I'll have to pick up the manga.
