Ghost In the Machine

My washing machine is haunted. Twice in the last few days, when my husband was doing a load of laundry, he stepped downstairs to find that the washing machine lid was wide open. This, of course, had caused the machine to stop washing. He insists that he remembered to close it when he loaded the clothes. And nobody in the family had been downstairs
