Fireworks

Renji led Byakuya up to the fireworks viewing area and looked around. There wasn't a terrible amount of people there, which was promising. He made his way over to a tree and sat down, leaning back against it. His eyes danced skyward and he nodded.

"This should be nice."

Renji closed his eyes while those fingers trailed across his face. When they reached his lips, he placed a delicate little kiss to them, eyes coming open again.

Byakuya sat up a little and rested his forehead against Renji's temple.

"Renji?" he asked, amused. "Do you think anyone would believe right now that I am your taichou?"

Renji smiled lightly and continued lightly toying with Byakuya's hair. He chuckled lightly and shook his head a tiny bit.

"Probably not."

Byakuya returned a small laugh of his own.

"Yeah?" Renji tugged a tiny little bit on Byakuya's hair. He really couldn't get over how much it felt like silk.

Byakuya kissed the side of Renji's face gently.

"You don't have to be sorry," he said, closing his eyes. "Just be safe."

Renji closed his eyes as well and wrapped an arm around Byakuya's waist in order to tuck him in closer.

"Of course."

Byakuya's head fell back down to Renji's shoulder, eyes still closed.

"...Stay like this and I'll fall asleep."

"Yeah? But you'll miss the fireworks."

Renji smiled lightly and kissed the top of Byakuya's head.

"Hnn...the fireworks, yes," Byakuya replied before staying silent for a few minutes.

"Was not today supposed to be a date for Rukia and Ichigo? Instead, I feel it has become one for us."

"Well, that's not so bad. It can be one for us, too."

Renji relaxed very comfortably against Byakuya, the hand around his waist absently moving up and down.

"I should tell you though, Renji, that this is the very first date I have ever been on."

As the other's hand moved along his side, Byakuya melted completely into Renji, letting out a sigh. He wondered why he was being so openly affectionate, but could not concentrate long enough to figure it out.

"Yeah?" Renji chuckled quietly and gazed down at the top of Byakuya's head. He couldn't figure it out, either, but if Byakuya was willing to be so open about it, then so was he. "How was it?"

"It has been very enjoyable," Byakuya replied. "So far." He lifted his head to look at Renji. "I do not believe this one is over yet."
