Not as classic as say, some of the 50's SF flicks or even as classic as Corman's own remake of 7 Samurai, but a fun little riff off of Alien.

OMG WTF Fred's back on LJ (!!!1!)

I particularly enjoyed seeing a pre-Twin Peaks Grace Zabriski and a different kind of role for Ray Walston. Robert Englund, I don't particularly care for. Yeah, fun in parts, although I don't think this one's going on the shelf for keeps.

I have a hard time with a lot of horror films, and this is precisely the type of horror film I have the hardest time with, but I remember watching this on TV in the wee hours sometime in the early '80s when I was living in Portland. I kept coming back to it after commercial breaks, even though it was freaking me out. The rape scene sticks with me, of course, but my memory also says there's one death by a sharp object that crawls along under a character's skin toward his heart. Is that in this one? That about did me in too.

Yep, this is the one. I think that scene might have turned my stomach in the ’80s too if I'd seen it then, but these days I find myself being able to 'see the join' in special effects a little clearer, as it were.

I really should learn that trick myself one of these days, but I haven't made much progress.
