It's a very disturbing book. I'm glad I read it, but I could never read it again.

Yeah, apart from other things, I guess it's also not a story for cat lovers!

I read this as a teenager when a doctor friend of my mom's recommended it to me. Didn't make a lick of sense to me at the time, but I remember that it was very intense. I guess I felt the same way about Lord of the Flies!

Though I know the story, strangely Lord of the Flies is a novel I can barely remember reading. I was also probably too young as well, although I see these days it does have educational editions.
