At the beginning of FAWM, I was infected with the idea of a Slightly Evil Lullabye, sort of as a follow-up to my "Slightly Evil Waltz." Last night I started working on it, and by the end of the second verse, I realized that it wasn't at all malevolent--just a bit misguided. I mean, what does this monstrous narrator know about humans?
Anyway here's a recording:
Lullabye for the Human Child. Lyrics and chords below the cut:
Lullabye for the Human Child
Peter Alway (Feb 15-16 2014)
D F C D
May I sing you a gentle lullabye and put you to sleep
D F C D
Feel the venom drip into your eye, so there’s no need to weep
D F C D
All the bones and blood that are nearby are inside your skin
D F C D
All the spiders hanging from the light are gracefully thin
C G D
May your nightmares be sweeter than honey
C G D
May your fears be as mild as cream
C G D
May paralysis bless us with silence
C G F C D
When the night terrors move you to scream
D F C D
May I sing you a gentle lullabye and put you to sleep
D F C D
Watch the twilight vanish from the sky; let the moon slowly creep

Enjoy your visions time is growing late, my sweet little gem

Every human must hallucinate, you’re just one of them

May your nightmares be sweeter than honey
C G D
May your fears be as mild as cream

May paralysis bless us with silence
