Tis the Season Part 4: Merry Christmas Eve and Pop Trimmings
Hello Kiddies,
Today did not start out so well. My friend Taz decided to give me a gift of an unexpected day off (see today's earlier post for details). It hasn't been a secret that this season has been less than a cheerful one, so I decided to throw it all to hell and make merry, depression be damned! I wrapped my gifts, trimmed my tree, had Christmas Eve dinner with the fam (and the shrimp!) and now am sittling with my Christmas drinkie and my favorite Genie. :)
I've written before about the Pop Culture Tree. I started collecting unique ornaments about 12 years ago and now I have three boxes full of them. Characters from Star Wars, Star Trek, The Muppets, Peanuts, DC and Marvel Superheroes, movie monsters, rock stars, and every other milieu are represented. There are also some traditional ones as well. I decided that I would rotate them out this year instead of trying to put them all on. New additions for '09 include Optimus Prime, Bela Lugosi as Dracula, The Flash, The Swedish Chef, Wonder Woman, Captain America, and a few more that will be determined from the post-holiday sales. My main man Jethro Claus (Santa's hipper cousin) is on the piano, and all is well. To all my friends out there have a safe and Merry Christmas Eve, and to my buddy Big J, Happy Birthday!
