Ads in movies

I hate them. I hate the pre-show ads. I hate having five minutes of cell phone and Coke commercials before the movie. I hate the movie ads pretending to be "behind the scenes of the making of..." mini-shows. Movie previews are fun, but watching the Japanese scientists sing "Close To You" for the 100th time is the worst.

THANK YOU! I hate that Coke commerical on TV, then I get the extended more EMO whiney verison at the movies! It's annoying. My fiancee is comtimplating on learning the words and singing along with it for some comic relief.

The phone commerical is just one of those big.. "WTF?" commericals. But, I still think coke takes the cake.

Oddly enough, I remember the first time I saw an ad in a movie--Newsweek had just published a little one-page blurb about it, which I ended up reading the morning before I went to a movie with my brother that had a car ad or the California Raisins or some shit. I was probably 9 or 10.

I believe some of the theaters around here are already charging $10.50 per adult non-matinee seat.

The premium theater you might be referring to is in L.A., and I believe they charge closer to $20-$25 per seat.

I WILL PAY A PREMIUM TO NOT WATCH ADS BEFORE THE MOVIE.

Yes yes yes! Sign me up. I'd gladly pay.

I'd also pay a premium to not have jack-asses in the theatre.

There are some theaters who advertize more than others. The indie houses you won't see much of anything. So, vote with your feet... driving a couple more miles to a different theatre is probably worth the same couple of bucks to you.

(The only flaw I could see is that all advertizers are doing exclusive deals, and won't accept anything other than all-or-nothing.)
