Picspam (may be of interest to B7 fans)

The following picspam features Stephen Greif - Travis 1, as he will be forever remembered, whether he likes it or not :D - in his first TV role. For anyone who has sensibly tuned out my wibbling about 70s sitcom 'Citizen Smith', here he plays the menacing, but adorably loopy, publican and gangster Harry Fenning. Harry is big, intimidating, and has ( Read more... )

You make me want to watch this! I do vaguely remember it being on here (doubtless years after the UK) when I was a kid, but no details beyond Wolfie being cute.

Awww to the head-on-shoulder one. Are Harry and Wolfie friends, then?

It was great fun! :D Though not so much after Greif left.

They're...sort of friends. Harry owns the pub in which Wolfie practically lives, and becomes friendly with his gilfriend Shirley's parents, with whom Wolfie does live. So they come across each other quite a lot.

Wolfie is for the most part terrified of Harry, but it's a curiously affectionate fear - there are a couple of occasions on which he uses Harry as protection against somebody (in the head-on-shoulder shot somebody just threatened to beat Wolfie up, and rather bizarrely he goes to Harry, who threatens him in nearly every episode, for comfort). By the end of the series Wolfie does consider him a friend, in a strange sort of way.

Harry for his part is amusedly tolerant of Wolfie, and lets him get away with stuff most people would be beaten up for, lol. He also gives him work occasionally.

Lol, sorry, rather a long answer than you wanted. 'Sort of' would have sufficed :D

I like the sound of it. I'll have to see if I can get hold of it. :-)

It is! He was so cute in this - and in rather good shape back then, as well. Apparently he doesn't like to be reminded of the series, though.

AWwww, I love how sometimes he looks NOTHING like Travis and sometimes he looks totally like Travis. THe psychotic grin is hilarious and fantastic. :D:D Thanks so much for sharing these! Is he in every episode or more of a minor character?

:D It was fun to pick out the craziest expressions, lol. Though not difficult :D The fourth down is about the most Travis-like expression, I think.

He's in about half the episodes that make up seasons 1-3, but not in the last season at all. :/ I think he was popular, though, because as the series went on he got more to do, and interacted with characters other than Wolfie. He's on the main credits in season 3 and would presumably have been a main character in season 4 if he'd been available. Still, he gets quite a lot of screen time, especially in season 3!

Power to the people!

Thank you so much for posting these, though I don't believe I would have recognised SG if you hadn't pointed it out!

:D No problem! I think the loopy grins make him look quite different - can't really imagine Travis with a sense of humour, lol.

This is the first thing I remember Stephen Greif in so him playing Travis was great as I rather liked Harry Fenning. Some of my fondest "Citizen Smith" moments involve Harry and Wolfie.

Me too! Harry was my favourite character when I first saw it as a kid.
