Summary: Draco stumbles into the Gryffindor common room, and Harry happens to be around to offer his services.
A week later and Draco was in his room pacing. He had kept his promise and returned the Invisibility Cloak to Potter the day after he he made his escape from the cursed Gryffindor Tower. But what had that got him? He had fallen prey to the Veela that had still been active in him and he had been shagged by Potter again. Not only had he spread his legs for the Gryffindork again, but he had increased the chances that he would become pregnant with that twit’s child.
Granger had gotten a note to him on Friday after the last lesson asking Draco to meet her in an empty classroom Sunday night after curfew. Luckily, Granger and he still retained their prefect statuses. It would make sneaking out to see her easy. However, that had not stopped the perpetrators for feeding him that potion!
No doubt Potter would be there, and Weasley as well. It did not matter. Draco had to know!
His pacing was interrupted by the arrival of Blaise. “Draco, what are you doing?”
“My feet seem to be carrying me back and forth across the room, Blaise. So I am going to say that I am pacing.” The blond did not stop his activity.
“Yes, I can see that. Thank you. But why are pacing? You have been acting strangely for the last week. Almost like you did back in sixth year.”
Draco froze. “Has it really been that obvious?” He queried the other Slytherin.
“If the Dark Lord was not dead, I would say that you had been set on another murderous mission,” Blaise answered as he made his way to his bed. Once there he threw himself back in a sprawl. “Are you still angry over what you told me those younger students did to you last week? Is that what has you pacing?”
Draco crossed the room and went to sit on his own bed. He looked around. There were only three beds in the ‘eighth’ year Slytherin dorm this year. Theodore Nott had been arrested and sent to Azkaban for his action in the war. It was a relatively short sentence of three years. And Vincent was dead. It saddened him that his friend had to die the way he did. Crabbe had let evil seduce and corrupt him and Draco had been too frightened to realise it before it had been too late to save his friend. Draco had been too weak and guilt still ate away at him when he was not distracted. Now it was just Blaise, Greg and himself sharing a dorm.
Pansy, Millicent and Daphne had been the ‘8th year’ girls to return. Pansy had only returned after much cajoling from Draco, Daphne and Blaise. Hogwarts just would not have been the same without her. On the first day of classes, much to Draco’s horror, Pansy had gone up to Potter and apologised to him for wanting to hand him over to the Dark Lord. Potter, that saint, had gladly accepted Pansy’s apology. He claimed that he did not hold it against her because the situation had been dire and she had acted out of fear and that he had gone and turned himself into Voldemort anyway.
Draco had snorted when Pansy had told him what the Boy Who Lived Twice had said. But he glad that she had at least been smart enough to apologise in the newly renovated Great Hall, in front of everyone. Everyone had been privy to Potter’s acceptance of Pansy and therefore no major grudges were held against her. The same could not be said about Draco, judging by the stunt the younger years had pulled. But maybe that had not been about resentment and had just been a prank.
Draco signed and shook his head. There was no way of knowing because he still did not know who had given him the damned potion. Worst yet, the repercussions could be dire. A child; he could have a child growing inside him. Shocked at that thought Draco unconsciously cradled his abdomen. He was unaware of the strange look that Blaise was now giving him.
“Draco? What is really wrong? What happened to you? Did something happen because of the potion? You never did tell me what the effects of that potion were?” Blaise stands up and crosses the room to stand in front of Draco. “Did it make you ill? Please tell me.”
Draco looked up surprised at the worried and desperate tone of his friend’s voice. Blaise and he had never been that close, but now-a-days they had very few friends left so they were bounds to become better friends. They had over the last month. Draco debated over confessing his troubles to Blaise. He opened his mouth to say that nothing was wrong, but instead everything poured out; minus the explicit parts.
“So now I could be pregnant with Potter’s baby.” Draco finished with his hand still over his stomach.
Blaise looked shocked, absolutely flabbergasted. He was speechless for a whole three minutes. Then he shook himself out of his stupor. “YOU’RE PREGNANT WITH SAINT POTTER’S BABY?!”
Draco sprang up and quickly covered Blaise’s mouth with his hand. “Lower your voice, you complete idiot. Out neighbouring dorm mates could hear you and what would they think? I don’t want anyone knowing about this,” Draco hissed.
Blaise pulled himself away from Draco and started to pace. “Merlin. What are you going to do? Are you going to keep the baby? Are you going to start dating Potter?” Suddenly he stopped and rushed up to Draco. “Are you going to have to live with Potter after Hogwarts?” Blaise asked his eyes wide.
“I hope things don’t come to that. I still don’t even know if I’m really and truly pregnant. I’m meeting Granger later so she can verify if there is a child growing inside me.”
Blaise snorted. “Given that you let Potter bugger you not once, but twice, I’m almost certain there is no doubt.”
Draco dropped onto his bed and clasped his hands over his belly. “I don’t know what I’m going to do if that’s the case.”
“Draco, why don’t you try and work on your assignments to get your mind off of things for the time being.” Blaise came and sat next to the blond, putting his arm around his friend’s shoulder. Then later tonight, I will sneak out of the dorms and accompany you to see Granger.”
“Why would you want to do that?” Draco asked, refusing to look at the other Slytherin for fear of breaking into tears. Things were really starting to get to him.
“Because I’m your friend and you will need the moral support. Now come on,” Blaise stood up, “Slughorn expects that essay on Monday.” Draco nodded and walked over to his desk to focus on his potions’ essay for the next few hours. He was glad to finally have someone by his side. He had not realised how alone he had felt since discovering to he might be pregnant. Draco had not trusted Pansy, even though she was his oldest friend, because she was the biggest gossip. Draco picked up his quill determined to forget about his troubles to concentrate on the properties and ingredients of the Polyjuice Potion until he had to meet Granger. He hoped Potter would be there. What? No, he hoped Potter would definitely not be there.
