Great Photos. I am related to the Bell family through marriage. Bell Cottage was built in 1855 by James Bell. The two pine trees were planted by my great grandfather William Thorpe in 1925. And the photos of the pioneer cottage are what is actually left of my ancestors property, Thorpe Cottage now known as "The Pines" was built by my 6x great grandfather Ebenezer Thorpe in 1855. It was in ruins in 1977 after the state government resumed the land for the railways. The Thorpe and Bell families emigrated to Australia from England arriving at Fremantle in 1831, two years after the colony was pronounced.
