Be sure to wear good shoes and do shin-splint stretches. I tried Couch to 5k when I was a teenager, and it went fine for the first few weeks, but then my shins started killing me after every workout and I gave up. (I have since realized that I despise running, and have found exercise activities more suited to my tastes, so it probably wouldn't have worked out for me anyway.) Hope it goes well for you!
Thank you for the well wishes! I got used to stretching in middle school, but it's the discipline to make them part of the routine that I need to keep up. You're not the only one who's warned me of a possible first-week bliss period (and my apologies for not shunting to a single comment stream on my Dreamwidth post), but having a goal within the next month and a half is a big way for me to fight against dropping out.
Oh, I wasn't trying to imply that you would drop out. I just didn't want you to have to deal with shin splints, because that shit was no fun. :P Anyway, if you had shunted to a single comment stream on DW, I probably wouldn't have bothered commenting at all, so.
