Happy Belated Birthday, Jared

Jul 22, 2008 17:04

Just wanted to post this today, even though it was written oh so long ago. That's what I get for being a shy lurker, heh. I also just realized I should have posted this for Jared's birthday the other day instead of the car porn business, mais c'est la vie, I guess.

I guess it's better out here than sitting on my hard drive, after all. Thanks for reading (and for the sweet comment).

This is unexpected and nice. I could imagine Sam totally fixating on this spiffy new gadget, being a gift from a friend as well as a reminder of his old life. I could imagine him just getting so wrapped up in it, soaking and drinking it in, that he just ... lost track, for a while.

And poor neglected Dean. They really are like an old married couple sometimes, aren't they? ;-) But I did feel for him, and I liked your depiction of his slow realisation of his state of mind, and the interwoven snippets of other birthdays and moments between them. Birthdays remembered by what Dean fixed to eat - LOL!

And Sammy heard Dean's final complaint, after all. Awwww. Great brotherly moments, their disagreements and their love for each other shining through. Nicely done!
Cheers ~

Erin

Hehe yeah, Dean should know by now that little brothers are ALWAYS listening to the grown ups. Especially if it looks like they're not.

Just want to say thanks, this is easily the best feedback I've gotten so far. Some people laughed at this and some found it angsty so it's interesting to hear what sticks with different people.

Yeah, as to Dean fixing the food, I kind of had this idea that with divorced or widowed parents, the eldest gets treated like a surrogate, and the theme of Dean as nurturer has been prevalent on the show. As is his spoiling of Sam. I think if Sam wanted something on his birthday Dean would do it. Even if he totally Does Not Cook. I should have mentioned he burned everything every year and Sam ate it anyway, lol. XD

Thanks so much. :)

Glad to've made your authorly heart happy! :-D

And who knows? Maybe Dean is like my Dad: only has a very few, simple cooking specialties, but what he does is good. *G*

Awwwwwww.
I like. Missing each other's voices, and all the back and forth in time, birthdays all over the country....

And remember John.
*sniffle*.

Nice.

AW your icon. Those two are my favourite wee-chesters.

Thank you so much for coming by and reading and commenting on all my work. I don't know if anyone ever stops by here, but if they did they probably wouldn't bother to comment. It's much appreciated!

Ohhhh, this is awesome. I love this! I love the way you have weaved in this incredibly vibrant, tactile memory that not only fits with the current bday story but also just beautifully illustrates so much about the boys, then and now. Dean's JOB is and always has been to look out for Sammy never ever ever gonna change. and oh wee little Sammy, who just wanted to be *normal* even when he was just 7 years old.

And I love adore and worship your dialogue and your ICness and the humour and this.whole.thing. *loves*

Ohhh, and alphabetizing the tape collection? SO MUCH WIN.

Look! Icon! Pretty! *licks*

Thank you. And no, some things never do change no matter what.

Heh, I'm pleased and impressed the meaning behind the normal, everydayness of things like canned soup came through. He just wanted whatever he saw the other kids eating at school or on TV, is I guess what was in my head. Aw, SAM.

So glad and flattered you found this to be IC and funny and and and oh the TAPES lol. I just thought it would be something Sam would do, but then I re-watched the pilot later, and there's the part where he's bagging on Dean for having the greatest hits of mullet rock on CASSETTE...yeah, I'm pretty sure it's *exactly* what he's doing. BOYS. <3

I got this over email and I couldn't see your icon, but I knew right away from your comment it had to be a pic of Jared. Oh YOU.
