Yes, it would be good if the Doctor let Brian know - or he was given a letter kept by a lawyer until the right moment. (Moff did that in Blink, after all!)
I'm really looking forward to the new companion as well - especially because she's not set up to have to face, "You're not them, woe is me, I'm taking you home any minute."
I liked it. I was hoping the first voice over was being made by a big talking bird. The return of the maltese penguin!!! But alas, it was not.
Since I remain spoiler free, I didn't know that River was turning up this seasons or this episode. So that was a squee. But gee, the whole episode I was was thinking I wish this was the River from before they messed her all up in the second half of last season.
I do wish we could have companions part ways and go off into the sunset instead of weepy drama.
I was also glad to see the circle closed on our little theory that the Doctor did show up for little Amelia.
Maybe he did take her for a little spin through time and space. One she could never tell him about. Because of the web of time and all that.

I only knew from watching the 'next time' trailer at the end of the previous ep!
Yes - a departure without it being over melodramatic would be very nice. Alas, I doubt we'll ever get that.
Well, maybe he did - but I wanted to see it!
