:-)

He was fairly awesome, I agree. Just a tad.*

The first Dickens novel I ever read was A Christmas Carol and it remains such a favourite that I re-read it or listen to an adaptation of it every year at Christmas.

And, happily for you, you could probably watch a different adaptation each Christmas till the end of time and still not be through all the versions of it...

*That was me using an understatement.

Actually I've never seen a single version of A Christmas Carol yet! One of these days, though...

(I ADORE Patrick Stewart's One-Man audio version of it, though.)

And yes, Dickens was just a bit brilliant!

(Our Mutual Friend, by the way, was absolutely fabulous yesterday - best Bank Holiday I've had in AGES!)

Oh, yes, you have - what about that DW version the other Christmas? I'd say it counted. A Christmas Carol turns up everywhere! (I like some sections of the 1970 Scrooge quite a bit. I don't know why.)

Heh, I'm sure that is amazing - Patrick Stewart!

Ah, no - I was talking about straight adaptations, not mashed-up versions!

Oh Pat Stewart's One Man Carol is AWESOME!!

I luff him :) And I was just thinking the other day that I really need to get around to the Pickwick Papers (shame on me for not yet having read it!).

Actually I've tried twice to read PP - and still haven't succeeded! Maybe I'd better find an audio or DVD of it!

Great choice! The first Dicken's novel I read was Oliver Twist when I was about eleven. I haven't read all of his work but I will work my way through them all one day.

Well *I* haven't read all of his novels yet, either, and I've been reading them for 33 years nearly. :D
