- Oh that Nyder's a proper Hitler, isn't he? Watching this in the 80s a friend said to me, "The English have never forgiven the Germans, have they?" The Doctor's never heard of Davros, despite the number of encounters he's had with the Daleks up to this point. At the beginning and the end of this serial the Daleks are said to have quite an impact on the history of the universe, but when the TARDIS first lands on Skaro the Doctor's never heard of Daleks. He really was a rotten student, wasn't he? This, or the last half of it, was the first Doctor Who I saw, and I was instantly hooked.

The really sad thing is that Hitler was as much our fault as his. Since the post-WW1 treaties gave him fuel for his anger...

Yup!

- Davros thinks there can never be cooperation between species.
And that's at the very heart of what it means to be a Dalek.
Why don't the Doctor, Harry or Sarah notice the Doctor's dropped the Time Ring?
I wondered this myself when I watched this episode!
Davros is begging the Daleks for pity? Well that's a waste of breath, isn't it!Especially when I think of TSE/JE and how the Dalek's create the one who made them. Not a lot of pit, reverence, or respect to be had there
( ... )

Yes - and funnily enough, it's the reason why the Doctor decided not to destroy the Daleks - because opposing them leads to alliances between other races, thereby proving Davros spectacularly wrong!

It's really baffling because it makes a lot of noise, and it's not like there was a lot of background noise to hide the sound!

True!
My notes (mind you it's all from memory as I couldn't wait to watch it when I bought it last month!):
Hee, okay!
- I love Harry Sullivan to a ridiculous degree.
Harry is fantastic!
- Apparently the Doctor had no problem with this doctor wielding a gun, so why go all moody on Martha in TSS/TPS?
Short answer: Rusty is a wanker!
- Those clam things were grooooooss
Enough to put anyone of shellfish for life, if you ask me!
And: Somthing that doesn't make sense (1) - Why does Davros' chair have an off-switch for his life support system built into it? There's NO logic in that!
Yes,a nd it's never occurred to me... I can only suppose that he has suicidal tendencies, or given his sense of self-importance, he thinks threatening to kill himself if people don't do what they're told is a serious threat.
And you omitted the amusing fact that this episode is clearly a direct crossover with Allo Allo. Which is always a little distracting... Heh.

Hmm, maybe!

I did - mainly because I was unsure whether non-Brits would have the faintest idea what I was on about!
It's actually amazing how much illogic there is in Genesis and how it manages to still stand up as this serious, meaningful, bleak-ish set of episodes. And I mean, the two domes are linked by a secret tunnel?! And yet it does.
Heh, true - it's very popular all over Europe but I don't think it broke into America. But all this needed was an appearance from Michelle of the Resistance... I find myself always cheering a little bit on those rare occasions when I see Lt Gruber in anything else. (He's in POTC as well. Guy Siner, obviously, but he'll always be Gruber). So I have a sneaking sympathy for Ravon, who seems completely out of his depth here.

I know! How utterly barking mad is it that the domes are linked by a not-so-secret tunnel?!

Gosh! I hadn't realised that was Guy Siner - but then again, it's been years since I saw PotC OR 'Allo 'Allo!

I love how incredibly morally ambiguous that one is.
