Well, on the surface it seems like an uninspired choice. Oh well, I'll read the reacts when the eps air.

I think they went for a virtual unknown so she wouldn't eclipse Matt - esp if Ten(nant)'s going to be doing a DW movie (that's in development).

Wait. A movie?! Are you serious?! OMG!

They're not definitely making a movie. It's in development - which means they're looking at costs, etc, and deciding whether to make it or not...

Huh, interesting. To the people who say she's too young, wasn't Ace's character supposed to be 15-16?

Late teens certainly - and Rose was 19, and Matt looks 16, so what's the diff?

*shrugs* Beats me. And by the time season 5 airs, Matt Smith will be significantly older. Heh, I sure know how one's age creeps up on one. Steve turned to me on our 32nd and 33rd birthday and said, "YOu know, you can't just jump out of bed anymore." :)

He won't be THAT much older - only a year.

Much as I love Matt Smith and his big hair, (He'll make a good looking top face on a totem pole if you ask me)

Can't they cast an older person, just to take us away from teen travels with geeky good looking alien and might fancy him? I'll see what Moffatt does with the story telling at least he can write better than RTD, I'd challenge anyone to imagine the 1st DR and a teen together and throw a crush in there and then get the idea a 900+ man and a teen together romantically is gross!

If they cast an older actress though, they run the danger of everyone thinking she's his mum... Since he looks 16.

Susan was mennt to be a teenager - Barbara and Ian thought of her as a teenager, after all...

TO be fair Susan was his granddaughter, and didn't fancy him.In regards to the first remark, why not? People thought He was married to Donna, I fancy a new dynamic! *smirks*

Maybe its a good thing we don't know much about the actress, other than she was in the Fires of Pompeii.
Hmmm...oh, I'll give her a shot, but I still loves me Ten and Martha!

I'll watch because it's Doctor Who and I can't help myself. Not excited (yet) though...

And YES for Ten & Martha!

Is it wrong if I say that Doctor Who has suddenly turned into Skins? ;-)

Well, I'm glad they went with an unknown as it gives SM a fresh slate all around for the Doctor and his companion (although there may be some references to his last ginger companion or to the fact that no matter what he does, he can't ever seem to regingerate).

*insert sad drumroll here*
