I opened up notepad, intending to insert in my comments all of the lines of description or dialog from this story that I enjoyed. But I just realized that it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for me to just quote the entire story in my comment. *lol*

But seriously, I loved everything about this: John's insecurities, Martha's confidence, Jackie's spirit and insights, the color scheme in John's home, the artwork he chose to decorate it with. Just...everything.

It was such a lovely story to read, and sexy to boot. :D

*giggles* YOu'd have trouble quoting the entire fic in a comment anyway, since the comment limit's quite small! :P

Thanks. It was fun thinking up the decor for John's house. And Jackie - I love Jackie!

But would that stop me from trying? Nooooo, siree! I'd start my own thread with loads of replies until I'd quoted everything. *checks head - yep still rattling, still empty!* :P

Now I can't get that decor out of my head as being Handy's house. I shall be adding it to my Fanon Encyclopedia. Love the icon btw. ;)

Well, you know I love this, right? But it case you don't

I LOVE THIS!!!!

OK--so much that I think is great--

--the way they're both developing is really interesting and gives them some depth. Martha is, in many ways, a mystery to me, and I mean that in the best sense. Her motives are just beneath the surface, aren't so far from what I know of her in ourVerse, but just a shade off so as to make her new. Bravo!
--John is a hot mess and I can't wait to see how he rights himself in the end. Having said that, his messiness makes sense as you've portrayed him--having to carry around 2 people with the true 3rd trying to find his way out--must be excruciatingly difficult. The him that we see developing is an interesting hybrid that transforms into something new. Hurray!

The sex is hawtness.

Yes, it's an interesting challenge to write Martha slightly differently, but the fact she's older, and lost a twin sister are the two main "hooks" for her character for me.

So very worth the wait!

I am so glad to see John/Handy moving on and trying to work things out within himself. I am also happy to watch things developing between he and Martha -- they have a bit of an uphill battle of emotional land mines between them, but I think that they care enough about one another to make it through and come out the other end a beautiful couple.

I love the whole realization of Handy's fantasy of being with Martha in front of his fire -- something so simple, yet so much a part of 'home' for him. I like that he is learning the simple pleasures of "the slow path", whether it be cuddles by the fire or hawt secksing with Martha.

Oh, and I love Handy as an artist in this. I would love to see some of those paintings and drawings he's done both inside his journal and around his house. I bet they are brilliant!

Anyway, I love this and look forward to seeing what you do with them as a couple in the future. :)

Yes there will be a few rough spots for them emotionally, but they're both very strong, determined people, so I think they will make it.

Thanks. I must admit I rather like that fantasy myself! :D

Poor John! I'm glad he's starting to get a hang of who he is, but he definitely has his work cut out for him. I *loved* the tour of his home and the reminders he had of the TARDIS in it. I really like the idea that he has his drawings/paintings all over his home.

Too many great moments to quote them all in one comment - but I do love how Alt!Martha's and John's relationship is progressing as they celebrate Christmas. :)

"You drew me in my underwear," she said, looking down at the black jeans and red jumper she wore.

I couldn't resist quoting that line. It made me laugh. Too cute. :)

I'm probably the only one who'll comment on this, but I did like that John decided to give a drawing of Nine and the TARDIS to Rose (though the Yule cactus idea was pretty funny). I've been feeling nostalgic for Nine/Rose recently.

But all in all, I enjoyed this Christmas interlude in the "Alternatives" series. :) Thanks for writing it. :)

Thanks... I am going to come back to John's drawing skills in a later story.

One of my betas commented on it, actually - but only in their comments to me.
