I have to agree with you on your points regarding the two eps. Remembrance of the Daleks is my fav of the two.
It's a GOOD story!!
I love Seven's lines. He'd come out with some of the darnedest things, like: "Somewhere...the tea's getting cold." (paraphrased)
This one, which I quoted (amongst several others) last week in my response to the quote meme:
There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do.
LMAO oh yeah, i love that. I don't give enough love to Tom Baker sometimes because everybody else does.
Well Four was my first Doctor.
I thought the regeneration scene was cute.
The bit where she comes out dressed as Four was perfect.
I enjoyed both stories really but considering that i love Seven and 'Remembrance' is one of the better Seven stories it holds a special place in my heart. okay, i admit, it wins pretty much overall. But i do have love for the regeneration. ah yes, the pudding XD oh how I love him.
Unlimited rice pudding is such a contrast to everything that comes before. It makes me chuckle just thinking about it...
I was surprised to discover, back in 2005, that I had Remembrance on an old VHS tape. The only reason it even grabbed my attention was that it was post-"Dalek" and in the Confidential, Syl had commented on how Daleks first levitated in that episode. I'd not recalled that at all, so I took advantage of the opportunity to watch it.
For me, the best things about the episode are the things done in honor of the show's 25th anniversary. They're at the Coal Hill School, where Susan was a student, and Ace is stuck in the house when the BBC begins showing the first episode of something introduced as "Doc--" before the sound is cut off. And it's true, the Daleks do levitate in that story, for the first time ever!
Yes I loved that "meta" moment (think I mentioned that in my review)... And the levitating Dalek bit had been completely forgotten by the time of "Dalek", hadn't it?
It really had. I'm sure I watched Remembrance before that, since I obviously taped it (and I'm pretty sure there were things that looked familiar when I watched it the other year), but that bit, which you'd think would have made quite an impression, I didn't believe until I watched it again. (And when I watched "Dalek," I remember being shocked and terrified that they could levitate, which further backs up the idea that it was forgotten.)

Remembrance is awesome, and I totally want to take Ace to the prom (dressed exactly as she is in the story, only sans the homemade cans of Nitro-9).

Remembrance is terrific - I'd skip on the Nitro-9 too!
