Big Finish Audio Dramas: Sympathy For the Devil Reaction Post

May 30, 2008 19:12

Since I knew that David Tennant's Colonel Brimmicombe-Wood also appeared in Big Finish's Sympathy for the Devil, I followed up listening to the UNIT audio "The Wasting" by listening to it yesterday. My thoughts (and consequently spoilers) are under the cut.

Ohh! I love AU stories. The "What If" part is always fun to imagine. Too bad about the ending. I wish I could get my hands of some of these.

*whispers* It didn't make it under the cut.

Darn ! Sorry about that - I think it's because I switched to the other editing mode to centre the picture (because I keep forgetting to make a note of the code to centre it) and I didn't notice the <*/LJ cut> tag was no longer at the END of the entry !

Gah !

Brimmicombe-Wood is so angry about everything in this universe, I find it endlessly amusing.

The decoy bit at the end with the pub was cool. The ending did feel a bit rushed and muddled, but I forgive it because I love the idea of the Brigadier zooming off in the TARDIS with the Doctor. I can't wait for the sequel, it seems to have been in the works for months and there still isn't an official release date or anything. :(

He really seems to be on the edge of a complete apoplexy every second - it's quite worrying !

I saw there was a sequel to this and got quite excited...

And yes, the pub as decoy was fantastic ! I really laughed at the Master falling for that !

If I remember right, there's a little scene after the end music in this one. Did you hear that?
'Sympathy for the Devil' had a tight plot and really raced along, which is not often the case with the audio stories. So I liked that, the performances and kind of liked the scary, abrupt ending. You'll find that quite a few of the Unbound series end like that.
All of them are really good. My favourites are this one, 'Auld Mortality' and 'Deadline'. 'Exile' is also good and well funny (and David Tennnant is also in it), but I found it a bit disappointing.

Yes I did hear the bit at the end - it was just that I was left not quite knowing what had happened to Wood and the others and that slightly irritated me... But if that's the way they go, then forewarned is forearmed !

I look forward to listening to some more...
