Hi! I didn't read your review too closely because I haven't listened to the UNIT audios yet and I want to, but I wondered if you knew about 'Sympathy for the Devil'. It's one of my favourite of the excellent Unbound series, and also features The Brigadier (Courtney) and Wood (Tennant) as well as Mark Gatiss.

Yes I do indeed ! I listened to it this afternoon - but I'm saving the review until tomorrow as I didn't want to bombard my FList with my squeeing ! :D

It's the first of the Unbound audios I've heard (although I've read an Unbound short story in one of the Short Trips collections) and I'm very intrigued by the series as a result...

They really are very interesting, exciting and intense. I felt (still feel) quite exhausted emotionally after I finished the final one because it was such a lot to take in - total chaos erupts into UNIT's life over a very short space of time... Which is what makes them excellent drama, of course !

I only read the Wasting review, since that's the only one I've listened to so far, but I remember being really impressed with David Tennant as Colonel Brimmicombe-Wood. He really doesn't hold back ...

It's been a while since I've listened to either The Wasting and Sympathy for the Devily (which I enjoyed tremendously) - I really should give them another go, now that I've run out of Eight audios *sniff* (except for Shada).

DT is an absolute powerhouse as Wood... Really amazing stuff. It's no wonder he ended up playing the Doctor !

I listened to Sympathy as well today ('cos Wood's in it) but I'm saving reviewing it until tomorrow - didn't want to overwhelm the FList...

*pets you* Sad not to have any more Eight audios...

Heh :-)

Have you heard DT in the Sixth Doctor audio Medicinal Purposes? That was one of the very first Big Finish audios I listened to, and the only Sixth Doctor story I know so far (both audio and TV episodes - I still haven't seen any Sixth or Seventh Doctor episodes).

Sad not to have any more Eight audios...

Indeed :-/. The next Eighth Doctor & Lucie one should be coming out soon though, so I'm looking forward to that one.

The One Doctor and Doctor Who and the Pirates are two of the best Six adventures, both audios. I didn't think much of Caller ID, but the short at the end, "Wrong Number" is really sweet.

SQUEE!

Fab review - it does all tie together very well, doesn't it? I had the exact same reaction at the end of "The Longest Night": they can't possibly have done that? There'll've been a last minute rescue, or something... I didn't really believe it until the beginning of the next play.

It's quite amazing how much I didn't miss the Brig in the middle stories - a testament to how good they are and how well they stand up in their own right.

All the scenes with Chaudhry and Brimmicombe-Wood are great, I have so much respect for Chaudhry and her determination not to let Brimmicombe-Wood get to her.

I was very close to tears at the end of "The Longest Night" - which has never happened with an audio drama before !

Seconded - they did a really good of creating such interesting characters that I didn't need the Brig there...

Gods yes ! She was just so strong and gutsy !

"Colonel Brimicombe-Wood I am placing under arrest, for murder, attempted murder, hijacking, treason, terrorism and being the biggest arsehole on the planet!" made me cheer and then laugh.

Same here. Chaudhry is fantastic!

Isn't she? I think she has to be one of my favourite audio characters ever !
