Times like this, Sasan was beginning to reconsider his knee-jerk aversion to Atia's insistence that slaves were actually a pretty hot thing to have.  Some things just didn't fit with his lot in life, and tromping through the jungle because he'd been volunteered to harvest supplies to make ghetto island alcohol was definitively one of those things ( Read more... )

When Atia had asked he make a whole lot of wine he had gracefully declined. When she offered him help, his interest more intruiged and when she offered him a servant, he laughed. And accepted.

All in all, Guy was starting to see the merits of the Roman habits of old. Of course, Guy wasn't the one pulling the donkey-cart.

Speaking of; rolled-up sleeves and a pout, that might be him.

Guy didn't bother standing up from the palm-tree he was sitting against. "Sasan?"

Looking up and straightening his back, Sasan nodded, trying to suppress a grudging sigh. "Guy, I presume," he said, with a grim little smile. "Ready for... work." He was almost impressed by the sheer amount of disgust he managed to inject into the single syllable, but tried to ignore it. Staying positive may not have been an option, but there was no sense in not even trying.

"How very keen of you," Guy replied with a smile and lifted a bottle. "Drink?" Work was to be done, but before work, one had to set oneself up for work. Besides, he still wasn't quite awake yet.

"Oh, God yes," Sasan said, marching forward with renewed purpose. No matter how distasteful his reason for being there was, he was suddenly a much bigger fan of Guy than he'd anticipated. If anything was going to make this bearable, that was it. "Might as well see what I'm going to be working for, right?"
