I fail to understand the reason why, upon first interacting with me, individuals choose to refer to me as "Bones", as if the name is a qualitative representation of my field. Sweets would argue that people observe that I allow him to refer to me as Bones, and therefore in an effort to mimic Booth, they would too attempt to refer to me in that ( Read more... )

Actually, that 'Edward' kid's known by a second name, "Fullmetal", in a lot of circles from what I hear. Pretty sure that's a reference to his :full metal prosthetics" or whatever.

That is extremely superficial and I'm hardly surprised.

A name's just a quick way to summarize and reference someone, right? Superficial nicknames might do a better job than real names.

In most instances a simple contraction of either their first or last name is more than suitable for the task.

I, myself, have a wonderful memory and can easily remember individuals of significance.

Why didn't you kill him, huh?

Your fascination with murder is most obviously a trigger system stemming from some indoctrination that ending a human life is the way to abolish all forms of conflict.

It's maybe because A) Bones is shorter than Dr. Brennan, or B) People are lazy, stupid or have a bad sense of humor. Choose your option madam.

If it makes you feel better, you are not the only one here with a nickname, Prussia-san gives names to people often. You shoudl be glad that they chose a nickname related to your profession instead of some trait like your hair color. I'm going to kill the next person that calls me blondie, I swear.

Prussia is an archaic country that does not exist anymore, I fail to see how it can assign nicknames.

Of course not, you are a human being that is being able to respond to stimulus. However, post World-War I, Prussia ceased to exist.

It's endearing, isn't it? There's a kitten on here who calls me Fairy, which I'm sure he means to be insulting.

Fairies were constructs created in English mythology to try and explain phenomenons in nature. If the child that referred to you as a Fairy, it most surely is an insult considering the connotation.
