DAMN! I spent fifteen minutes writing this really long comment and LJ just ate it up! *cries*

I... I guess I can summerize my feelings: I really loved this chapter. I really really did. Every scene was awesome, but the Northstar vs. Rictor scene was my absolute favorite because it totally made a Major Summer X-Event look inconsequential and I found that very humorous.

My heart breaks for Shatterstar. And I'm sad to see Ric struggling with his insecurities. But for a chapter to make me feel so much for the characters is just proof of how great a writer you are. I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Reading this one has totally made my week. Thank you!

By the way, that one part:

"When we do it that way, we can kiss," I mumble. I haven't kissed Rictor in weeks. I ache for him.

Ugh, I hate it when LJ eats comments! My monitor's nearly gone through the window on several occasions because of that!

I'm glad you liked the chapter, and I'm doubly glad people are seeming to want to murder Shatterstar a tiny bit less at this point. Compared with Rictor's importance in his life, Apocalypse/The Apocalypse/an apocalypse is hardly worth mentioning!

Oww. It's like watching a car wreck in slow motion - a really well-written car wreck! I have a couple of ideas about why Layla did it, and I'm a little anxious about that last chapter now...

The most poignant thing to me is in that scene with Northstar, where they can't help defending each other even though they're estranged. Especially Rictor, who's consciously estranged. It's that whole "my other half might be being an asshole, but NO-ONE BUT ME is allowed to call him an asshole!" thing.

I completely agree! It seems like Ric would defend anyone he cares about with his dying breath, even if that person *coughRahnecough* had betrayed him in the past. And I don't think he's completely given up on Shatterstar... he just doesn't know how to fix the mess the two of them have gotten into. Or maybe the mess that *Layla's* gotten them into, if you believe her story...

I formally give you permission to steal Layla's ice cream cone and shove it in her face. I think she'd deserve that at this point. Though since she'd already know you were going to do it... would you even be able to?
