Sal's quite a cute father where Jakinda's concerned, isn't he? *pats him* The removal of the spells was quite well done, though you might want to give a bit more explanation about what the serpent is for those who don't have Fantastic Beasts memorized. But overall I liked! I can't wait to see them in Hogwarts. :D

*blinks* Uh... is there a serpent like that in FB? I thought it was just a nastier magical construct than the one from Serpensortia.

I think she means the Nundu's breath part. :)

Oh. Hmm. Perhaps that could use some work.

Do you know, by the way, that there is no link to chapter ten from chapter nine? Not that it bothers me much, but...

Well, I agree with all of you - Salazar's a good father. I like them.

About the Nundu. I've read Fantastic Beasts a few times, but even so the structure of what you wrote implies, to me at least, that the Nundu is snake and the breath comes naturally from it. Did you mean that Voldemort had enchanted this locket-snake to have Nundu breath? Because if so, that wasn't clear... to me, at least.

Oh, and sorry to post a comment just after sending you an email - not sure if you've read it yet, though - but I remembered about the missing link and thought you should know.

I meant it to be a construct with Nundu's breath worked into it, or possibly one made from it. I'll have to rewrite that to be clearer. I meant for the reference specifically to the Nundu's breath to imply that the breath was there in the absence of an actual Nundu, but I can see this made a lot more sense inside my head than out of it.

I didn't notice I'd left out that link. Thanks, I'll add that.

And, of course, then I forget to look at ALL the comments, and you've already talked about the Nundu... silly me.

No worries! :) Oh, and thanks, glad you like Salazar-as-father. He's not exactly happy about having produced a Squib, but he really is fond of her and while there's a certain amount of embarrassment, there's also real concern about how it makes things difficult for her.

oh my. I hope you don't mind me barging into your journal. I was going through friends of friends and came across your story (and read it all in one sitting, despite starting to need the loo somewhere around chapter five!). This is absolutely brilliant. The trio and Ginny are wonderful, and it's so good to see Salazar like this. He's perfect. I can't wait for them to get to Hogwarts and meet the other Founders (it's a pity they can't do the translation spell they used for Herpo). I love Maeve the friendly basilisk as well.

Hi! I remember you and of course I don't mind, comments are very welcome. :) Although it's possible I'm too tired to be replying to them at the moment; I was free-associating strangely earlier.

I'm really glad you like it and that it held your attention so well. I've been working on their arrival at Hogwarts, but seem to be having some issues with transitions and the sneaking feeling that the Trio need more to say than I'm currently giving them.

I'm getting really fond of this Salazar. He's fun. The translation spell would be convenient, wouldn't it? Though I've actually got a bit of a linguistic cheat in mind for later....

Are those two married?"

"Wait -- what?" Harry followed the direction of Salazar's nod. Well, there wasn't anyone else he could have been talking about, but still. "Ron and Hermione? No." After a brief pause, he added, "Not yet, anyway."
