spent and sighing with that look in your eye...

I'm so amused: toothbrush porn.

So, I was wondering, who on my flist actually likes Ginny--I mean really likes her character? There's a lot of people in my fandom circles who severely dislike her it seems, but I was curious about who feels the other way?

So...

Ticky Boxes!

Poll Ginny Love (or lack thereof...)I'd love to hear opinions, of course--especially if you check off the ( Read more... )

*raises hand*

I suppose I don't think about her too much, but I do think (and rant) about the female characters a fair bit, and Ginny always seems to be excluded, in my mind at least, from my general disappointment with them. She's smart and fun and sassy and bold and brave and gets crushes on boys but that's not her whole fuckin' life.

I love her Quidditch skillz, and her snide comments, and how she told Harry to fuck himself in OotP. I don't think about the teenagers much at all, but when I do, I really get on board with Harry/Ginny. To each their own, I know, and there are strong opinions out there about that. But I thought they seemed like a great couple, like they would be real friends underneath the making out, and I thought it was one of the only couples in HBP that was written so well that it made sense to me ( ... )

I love Ginny. She reminds me of the twins and is less sanctimonious (read: like Molly) than Hermione.

But I still don't ship Harry/Ginny. I know she's had it bad for him since she was 10, but Harry affection for her was always more sisterly ... until she used the Wizard World equivalent of trapping him into a relationship. Or at least I think she did.

I ship Harmony for a lot of reasons, not least because of the similarities of Harry and Hermione to Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel. Otherwise, it's Harry/Luna.

To me honest, I don't expect Ginny to survive.

Well, we all know what you think of Molly! ;)

I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if Ginny dies--or most anyone else for that matter--but I'd be disappointed of course. I can't see Harry with anyone else (maybe Luna, but that wouldn't interest me much, not that what I care matters in the end!), but if he doesn't end up with her, it's his own damn fault and I feel confident she'd move on just fine.

Here from Hogwarts Today.

I'm curious. How did Ginny trap Harry into a relationship? After all, he was the one that initiated things with the kiss.

I'm holding out on her.
I didn't much pay attention to her up until OotP, in that book I LOVED her. She was confident, sassy and argumentative, she stood up to Harry, and her brothers.

But then HBP came... and the whole romance fiasco. I do believe OotP Ginny would have been perfect for Harry, but HBP Ginny? Not so much... pinying after a buy non-stop since you were 10? Dating around just to get him to notice you? Blah...

I still have hope for book 7, even though they parting scene made menearly gag.

I'm mainly holding out cause after everyone and their mama said JKR sucks at writing romance, maybe she'll get the clue and either leave it out, confine it to a small part of the book or at least try to write it better, lol.

I mean, the whole Harry/Ginny mess was topped only by Remus/Tonks... *shudders*

I wrote a freaking novel...sorry :P

I think I agree on almost all points! I really do have high hopes for her character and I'm convinced she'll be important. *doesn't even touch the Remus/Tonks debaucle* *shudder*

I love Ginny. A lot. I know a lot of people think she has a lot of mary sue qualities, but then again so do a lot of literary characters who have a central/important role in a story. And Ginny is definitely at least very important to the overall HP storyline, romance aside. If we were to cut her out, we would lose an entire book at the very minimum ( ... )

I really like your POV on the matter of female characters! Yes, Harry's a young boy for much of the series and girls are just another species to him. Therefore, their characterisation through his eyes is a bit skewed. Lots of room for nummy fanfic.

And more than a little digusted that she didn't ever stop pining for Harry (she and Tonks could have a contest for most pathetic... *roll eyes*) But I still hold out hope for those two.

I never read that bit as her "pining" for Harry personally. I took it as more of a "I-retain-mild-interest-in-a-that-one-day-maybe-that-would-be-neat-sort-of-way-but-I-will-not-be-waiting-for-or-actively-encouraging-it" moment. Tonks on the other hand has some serious pining issues.
