Hmm... did this test too and must say I found the answers/questions rather silly. it has nothing to do with having lived in germany in the 1930s.
And besides, after watching this documentary on how easily people in general (and this means you and me too) are able to inflict harm on others (I think it was called 5 steps to tirany), I don't think it's that black and white. especially with 20/20 hindsight...

Oh, I dunno, I thought the questions were pretty interesting and made sense in the context of psychology rather than geography. I think they can (to some extent) be universally applied to anyone living in a stressful political climate. However, I do agree that it is a bit difficult to accurately gauge people's reaction to stress. And it is certainly not black and white. I think at this moment in time, if I was told I had to give my life up or allow a jew (or any person singled out for violence) to die I would take no part and risk my life. However, thinking of that same scenario were I to have a child and it were the child or the Jew, well I don't think i'd be so strong.

yes, but these scenarios don't happen like that. that's why I thought those questions are silly. brainwashing is much more subtle, the political climate in germany in the 1930s can not be compared to how things are nowadays.

How many people think that the news they get to see/hear every day is objective?
the answer is: too many.
it is very easy to lie to people and fuel their fear.
much easier than most people realise.
read my last 2 LJ entries for examples.
