My psyche upon watching way too much L&O in my life.

Feb 24, 2009 21:36

I'm watching the L&O: UK opener because, a) DUDE, LAW & ORDER and b) DUDE KENNEDY JAMIE BAMBER.

Or, as I said to The Husband tonight: "I want to check it out. It's weird only watching one L&O."

I'm two minutes in, and this was honestly my thought process )

episode squee, law&order: uk

mininova's got a healthy one already.

And I'm completely in love with how British television seems to revolve around the same dozen or so people. I know it doesn't actually, but I do seem to see the same troupe everywhere.

You would love it doubly because the first 13 episodes are updated versions of old episodes. [Something to do with Dick Wolf's licensing fees or some such].

And Dick Wolf thinks 13 episodes is too short a season. Oh, DIck, you American.

Heh. I remember seeing all four Blackadder series for the first time and thinking, "Where are the rest of the episodes?"

I checked out the Wiki page for it, and I recognize the first episode! It was a L&O Mothership ep, where the girl dropped off her dead baby at a hospital because the baby had died in an apartment due to the heater not working. I wish I could remember what it was called, and what season it aired in, but it was one of the earlier seasons, because it had Mike Logan in it. <3

I didn't recognize the main plot, but there was a certain twist that I called before the investigation portion was even over. And I did not care. Because, come on, it's L&O.

I may have looked up the wig thing on wiki. She doesn't wear a wig because she trained as a soliciter general and not as a barrister. I think that translates as she trained as a general law attorney whereas James trained as a criminal law attorney.

Thank goodness you saw the Matt/Ronnie.

"You blood sugar's dipping."
"Can I have my tie back, now?"

And when Matt tries to undo his tie, and Ronnie swats him away? Hee.

Actually, a solicitor is an "out of court" lawyer, while a barrister is an "in court" lawyer. Basically you go to a solicitor if you have legal problems, and if those legal problems lead to a court appearance, the solicitor gets a barrister to present the case. (Based on what I remember of the British justice system from ages ago college.)
