There's a girl on there who is absolutely notorious for her anti-adoption stance. She's convinced it's immoral, wrong, abusive, and a whole bunch more problems.
I could deal with this if she had suffered through a bad adoption, or something like this, but she's a SAHM with a natural-born child and was not adopted herself. But she's talked to people who were adopted, so she knows. She also thinks that it's wrong for adoptive parents to be called mom and dad, or even parents.
Some people are retarded. Yea, that's like this one group I was in and they told me the same thing, that it was fucked up I had the internet but received public assistance. Um, let's see...I am a single mother, unemployed, yea I live with my baby's father, but he doesn't make that much money. We HAVE his cousin as a roommate but he isn't worth a SHIT half the time helping with bills. Let's see, out of rent, lights (the second cheapest), cable/internet/phone, water (the cheapest), within the past MONTH he'd only paid the damn water bill, and he was almost LATE on that. But yet he can drink up all our f'n MILK in like, 2 days, that we get on WIC and food stamps, that HE isn't included in. I so want Thomas to kick his ass out, but because he's family, he doesn't want to. I told him, family will stab you in the back quicker than anyone else. My mother and father disowned me because I got back together with Thomas, who they hate. And they have not asked about our son since. If they don't give him a birthday or Christmas present
( ... )
they are f'n expensive. Even if I go through DFACS to get one, it's 100-150 dollars a week to put my child in one. SO I am going to stay at home with him as long as I can. Because i don't have a babysitter...especially not for every day almost.
I did the math. At my current potential income level, even with public assistance to help me pay for it, when you figure in the cost of gas and work-related expenses, I would be working just for the sake of working. I wouldn't be making any real money, and certainly not enough to justify keeping her in day care.
Getting the food stamps was cheaper. It cost the taxpayers much less money than the day care would. And this way, my daughter gets raised by her mother and learns respect and good behavior. I have time to get an education. Everybody wins.
Yeah, because dropping that $30 a month is totally going to make the difference between you needing a little extra help with food and being able to support yourself completely.
I hate the stigma that is applied to public assistance. I don't have any shame in accepting help. And hell, I'll probably never see social security, so I think of this as getting mine early. I've paid into the system, there's nothing wrong with getting something out.
Yeah, I forgot about that one. Only people who are independently wealthy and covered by the best insurance in the world are permitted to have children.
Cuz it's impossible to have happy kids and not buy them the best toys in the world.
Well shit! Someone better alert the authorities and report my parents ;)
I'd rather be poor and raise kids who are grateful for what they have and understand values and what's really important than be rich and raise spoiled brats who know nothing other than plasma screen tvs, electronic toys, and getting whatever they want.
