*Kaoru probably got to the train just after Hikaru did and generally wandered around for a few hours, bumping into people and trying to figure out if anything had drastically changed: they probably just about missed each other. Unable to find his usual sleeping car, he decided to settle in one of the communal ones for the time being and get some sleep.

Hikaru will likely find him there. He'll try not to be boring!*
