It's been along time since I've attended any rallies (save for that one anti-war one we happened upon in Seattle many months ago; and I don't count Pride as a rally, it's a celebration). As it was, I was fortunate enough to be in Long Beach visiting a friend, and he suggested we go. It was the first rights march I've ever been involved in.
Of course, the news reported arrests (hours after the march had officially ended) and unsociable behavior (the YES ON 8 people). But in reality, it was peaceful and friendly. I was impressed by the families marching--straight people showing their support and being enlightened enough to feel comfortable bringing the kids. It was amazing.
