Which to pick?

I'm not sure if anyone looks at this any more.  I'm back in the states...being at home wasn't that weird, but my first day in classes I walked around freaking out.  I feel like during most of my posts I was pretty snarking about a few things, but I really enjoyed my time in Ecuador, was devastated to leave, and want to go back...right now.  I am ( Read more... )

No one is immune to the power of widdle baby animals, especially sea lions. They just look like they would be great to cuddle.

Yeah, #4 definatetly is adorable, if perhaps a bit touristy(?). #6 feels the most like a "foreign immersion", with a bit of National Geographic in that it seems to have a story behind it. Visually I love #1, but I'm not sure it's the picture to summarize your visit (unless there is an awesome story there, I can't say ^_^;;)

Gorgeous photos btw!

Thanks! I stuck in #1 because I think it shows an Ecuador (specifically a Quito) that people probably aren't expecting, I don't think many people expect it to be as modern as it is. I think a lot of people expect it to look like #6, but that's not true for all of Ecuador...also I just loved watching those skater boys (sk8ter bois?).

Sounds perfectly valid. That's a good point about defying expectations and offering something different. And now that I think about it, that picture probably does reflect a much more personal experience during your trip. (I'd have watched them too, I bet ^_^). Luck with the submission!

Tessa, I've been checking for your updates and am glad to see that you are back at the blog. I love reading your stuff and seeing your photos. You are a witty writer.

I am thinking back to all your photos. The ones the first few days on the Galapagos have a lot of beautiful images. The one of the roasted guinea pig is very interesting. and didn't you have an entry about how they make the Panama hats? I loved that one with the photos.

Of the ones you have posted in this entry I like the #6 "busted."

Scott and Bob are driving to TN together. They made it as far as Little Rock, ARK tonight and will be at Scott's new home tomorrow.

Take care, and keep writing!

Love,
Aunt Sandee

I hope they made it there all safe, but we're going to miss having Scott and Melissa so close! I like #6 too, she has the greatest smile on her face.

This was after a celebration of the Virgin Mary in Machachi (about an hour south of Quito). A group of people carried around an icon of her through the streets, stopping occasionally to dance, play music, and throw fistfuls of rose petals on the icon. After they had moved on, the entire street was carpeted with rose petals.
