Hmm, you mean like é? What I do is I go to start --> accessories --> System tools --> Character map and double click on what I want, then copy and paste into Firefox.

Then there's Alt codes. Hold down ALT and type the number in the number pad.

ALT + 0224 = à ALT + 0225 = á
ALT + 0232 = è ALT + 0233 = é ALT + 0200 = È
ALT + 0242 = ò ALT + 0243 = ó ALT + 0241 = ñ
