The Gas Ceiling

A few years ago, I kinda saw the direction our energy shortages would have on the overall economy and coined a term to describe the phenomenon -- "The Gas Ceiling." On the afternoon of the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, something unexpected will happen to the turkey. It will incur a revision of belief.

More pessimistically: The turkey will be dead long before it realizes that the day is not going according to plan.

I'm not in the most hopeful mood today.

Incurring revisions of belief can be painful experiences. Your way is actually more optimistic, in that it allows the turkey to die happy and content.

How dare you mention the sacred and the profane together. Consumer gluttony and holidays with a -mas ending should never taint the beautiful, sanctified wonderfulness of group sex!

It's sort of like the tipping point on global climate change; the longer we wait to do something to avert it, the more radical the actions will have to be.
