I once heard from one author speculating on the subject that the anthrax letters were mailed by the 9/11 hijackers themselves as a kind of farewell and fuck you to the system they were attacking. Thanks, but no thanks. From the reader reviews on the book:

    . . . (the book seems) less interested in questioning (or proving) the veracity of occult/ufo/conspiracy beliefs than in whence they come and why, what they say about the collective consciousness of humanity in these current times of insecurity and paranoia.

Spirituality-wise, I'm more in line with Michael Shermer's Why People Believe Weird Things analysis. That's just me.
