While we're on the food topic...

I want to try these:
Tamarillo
Forbidden rice

Bhutanese red rice
Persimmon

Cherimoya
Miracle fruit
Heirloom veggies, like tomatoes

Of course, I got to thinking about this after reading about the fruit detective.

I really want/need to go to a farmers' market soon.

Great, semi-related book: The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan.

Wow, I'm so link-tastic.

You know, Botany of Desire's been on my list for over a year, now. I really should just library that one-- yay reminding me!

I had this daydream of us living in a cottage in Provence, planting our own vegetables and shopping at local markets for fresh groceries. We'd grow our own spices, too, and make delicious meals. I can totally see us doing that when we're fifty.

Yes!!! When I was in Arles, I walked through the farmers' market there, and it was a wonderful experience. I love the people with all the colorful spices...
I've been thinking a lot about that recently as I try to figure out how to use my culinary lavendar!

Escape from the world... let's do it.
