Of course I never forget Tolkien Reading Day/ Gondorian New Year and i come here to wish everyone a happy new year. :D

Great reminder of the Gondorian New Year.

My mother was a person who, like Sam, had Hope Unquenchable, though she didn't go on any great quests to merit a name change.

Frodo needed Sam and Sam's inspiration was Frodo...

(And that quote... I believe that when I read that passage for the first time was when I began to fall in love with Merry. He has always been my favorite hobbit, even though I have written much more fanfic about other characters. Ah, Merry.)

I love Merry too! I am a sucker for fics that focus on him being left behind in Rohan and also before the last battle . He is also the one to aid his friends as they heal in cormallen so he is a strong hobbit . Merry has a special place in my heart !

Strider is a great chapter ! I’m rereading Rotk last four chapters of book 5 and am so struck by Aragorn the healer and leader in those chapters :)
