I'm so glad you posted this! It really is an excellent look at how much Faramir must have struggled with his grief after losing both his brother and his father. I think it is very realistic the way Faramir goes in and out of dark moods and at times seems to despair completely. I don't think enough was made of his grief in the films. I realize he was a soldier and expected to be strong and that as a son of the Steward, he was expected to lead by example, but I still think in those dark hours when he must have felt he had lost everything, he must have come close to giving up. I like the way you show his grief and also show the things and people that pull him out of it. I think his wish to support Aragorn and his respect for Aragorn went a long way toward helping him cope. I like how without really knowing he was doing anything at all, Merry's talk of the Shire helped. Can't wait for more of this.

I think there was definitely a missing link, a missing scene because i really didn't think that he could've recovered so quickly and so fast and be there for Eowyn that quickly. So therefore, there must've been some internal grieving that Tolkien did not write about so we can fill in the blanks with that. :) Thank you for liking this so much! This is my first time writing Faramir so glad it worked for you.
I think there will be more Eowyn/Faramir as well as Faramir and Merry before the conclusion.
Thanks so much for you encouragement all throughout! :)

I never thought too much about Faramir's difficult road to healing. You write this beautifully.

Yes i do too! I think battling the Black Breath is not easy and therefore, building a network of friends around him is very important.
