This is so lovely. Fastred is so gentle and wise, and I love how Elanor is held in such high regard by everyone throughout her life.

Aww. That was lovely! Poor Elanor and all the Gamgee kids. I've often wondered how they would have dealt with losing their parents so close together and (for the youngers ones) learning of their father's decision to go the West. The parting of Sam and Elanor is wonderful and Fastred is such a caring and loving husband. Very well done, Peri! Thank you! *huggles*

I think there could be a whole series of fics/ or a long WIP dealing with how Sam broke the news to his children that he's leaving ME and subsequently how everyone reacts to it. That would indeed be an amazing story to read/write.
The parting of Sam and Elanor was a late addition to the fic but i'm glad that you liked it and that it worked. :)

*MY* Sam. ;) Thank you for liking this and telling me so! I thought it was *very* sad that Sam had to leave so many children behind when he went to meet Frodo again in the Undying Lands. :( Indeed it was sad....

I liked this. It had to have been difficult for Elanor to lose both parents in a year, and it's good to know she had such a loving husband to help her through.

I think it indeed was tough for all Gamgee children-- :( I really wonder how Sam broke the news to all of them and how he could make them all understand his choice and his fate...
Fastred--would love to write more about him too. :)
