Shopping is hard - let's do math!

Srsly, shopping is one of the most exhausting things I do regularly. Biking home and work exhausting I can get over by relaxing for a little in the comfy chair (not... The Comfy Chair!), but shopping totally takes it out of me. Must be all the choices, I'm not good at dealing with choice.

Write a list, and stick to it as much as possible.

I don't mind shopping for some things, but clothing shopping? When I am in the mood, I storm in, I try on everything that catches my eye, I storm out again, and maybe walk off with 2-3 things. Yes, I power-shop. Because it's like Laura Ingalls Wilder said about sewing button holes on shirts: "I don't like to do it, so I've learned to do it quickly."

I pretty much always have a list, as soon as I need to pick up more than two items. It still wears me out, both from having to pick which of the many offerings of the things on my list I want -- there's thirty kinds of youghurt alone, let alone the cheese, at the local supermarket -- and just from all the things that are *there*, some of them I might want, some of which are annoying, some of which are tempting...

Fortunately, I very rarely have to do clothes shopping, 'cause that's even worse. I'm fine with T-shirts and jeans for everyday wear (I am a professional geek, after all), so my other stuff lasts for a long time.
