He has already admitted his addiction, but he hasn’t changed. Wilson watches House out of the corner of his eye as that small container of vicodin makes its appearance once again. It comes out of the pocket like clockwork, and Wilson can predict when House will need another pill to the nearest five minutes.
He smiles and makes the same jibes at House - when they’re there to make - because House is acting just like normal, but Wilson has talked to Cuddy about the pills that he sometimes helps House get, sometimes with humor and sometimes humorlessly.
He can’t afford to alienate House or alienate himself from House, but he can’t help but care.
